What are the requirements to join?

Your current GPA should be at least 3.5.* As of Spring 2011, 12 academic credits are necessary if the student entered the College as a freshman; 12 academic credits taken at Baruch College are required if student entered the College as a transfer student. In addition, you must attend two on-campus events, two volunteering events, one co-sponsored event, and attend 2/4 or 3/5 general meetings. Finally, you must be active within one of our seven committees.

How can I become a member of Sigma Alpha Delta?

We will send invitation emails to those who are eligible to join both during the Fall and the Spring semesters. Students are selected based on their current GPA and number of credits completed. You can also start the process through our website by filling out our registration form Please note if you do not have the academic requirement but expect to fulfill this requirement at the end of the semester of your involvement in Sigma Alpha Delta, you may also join to begin fulfilling the other necessary requirements for  membership.

How can I become an officer of Sigma Alpha Delta? Do I need to be part of a certain committee?

One major distinction between Sigma Alpha Delta and other Honor Societies in the nation besides being student-run is that in order to be inducted into the society as an officer, you must have effectively proven your dedication to our mission and goals throughout a semester. Beyond the academic requirements, students must actively participate in at least one committee’s activities, as well as volunteer throughout the semester. Induction into Sigma Alpha Delta takes place at the conclusion of every semester. Early induction is possible if an active member will be graduating from Baruch college the semester following the completion of all necessary requirements.

Does it cost anything to join?

No, your active participation in the Society will be payment enough to the organization, college and community at large.

*Special exceptions are made for members who show outstanding interest and have above a 3.2 GPA.
